Accounting Premise -  analysis is from the point of view of a service client.  No capital equipment expense is incurred. Most of the related IT staff cost (removing drives, inventorying them, making them available to or delivering them to the service provider) is approximately the same regardless of ITAD method employed and may vary widely depending on the man hour cost of the organization,so that expense is not accounted for in this computation.  It should be noted that these tasks are usually accomplished by on-the-clock support personnel and the work involved lends itself well to multi-tasking. The hard money cost due to additional IT staff hours is usually low.

Salvage values are based on soft research by averaging  the asking price for single drive purchase from  three IT Asset liquidation sites and buy it now used sata hdd eBay listings (after eliminating the data outliers), then rounding them to the nearest $5 increment.  It is the nature of computer hardware that these values are not reliable constants. In many cases, CDES America LLC is willing to buy the salvage HDD's for 75% of the then current salvage value, less service fees.

Rates for ITAD service are quotes from CDES America LLC's rate chart. For ITAD clear and firmware purge service clients, CDES America LLC will physically destroy defective or dead disk drives at the stated physical destruction rate in lieu of charging the normal ITAD service rate for those hdd's.

It should be noted that the firmware purge model rates assume use of ArraySure APU for ITAD service - if using software based secure erase command execution then prices would be comparable to those quoted for clear/overwrite processing due to the substantial increase in required man hours and/or other resources.

* NOTE: Total cost of Degauss Purging and Physical Destruction methods includes 100% loss of asset salvage value of the hard disk drives.  This value is preserved by the clear/overwrite and firmware secure erase purge methods.
